Aloha Hawaiʻi History Day Family and Friends,

Congratulations to all the students, teachers, and judges who participated in this year’s Hawaiʻi History Day District Virtual Fairs. This district fair season tested our resilience, commitment, and care for one another, our communities, and our histories. We are ecstatic to share with you the 2021 results and the projects that our Hawaiʻi History Day students and teachers worked incredibly hard to complete. For the countless community members who served as judges that spent hours evaluating and providing valuable feedback. We are extremely grateful and inspired by the collective effort and work the Hawaiʻi History Day community has accomplished so far.

December 2020

Aloha to our Teachers, Students, and Families,

As 2020 comes to an end, we reflect upon this past year of struggle, confusion, and at times despair not knowing how we could move forward (in person or virtually) to care for and teach our students, while also keeping our families and ourselves safe. Although the struggle continues, there are beautiful silver linings that remind us what is truly important. We are getting back to basics such as: slowing down and sharing a home-cooked meal with our family, having a conversation over the phone with a friend, getting some fresh air by taking a walk, going to the beach or just standing in the sun. We hope you are able to find your silver linings as we end this year together. Our Hawai’i History Day team is deeply grateful and appreciative for each and every one of you who, despite a turbulent and unprecedented year, have participated in our various workshops, events, and the Hawai’i History Day program.

July 2020

Aloha Hawaiʻi History Day Community,

During these uncertain times, we hope you are finding creative ways to enjoy your summer, such as spending time with loved ones, cooking, swimming, biking (with masks and social distancing of course), or even if it is through zoom, face-time, or with a simple phone call. As we head into this new school year, we would like to you to know that your health and well-being is our utmost priority here at Hawaiʻi Council for the Humanities. With that said, we have decided that this 2020-2021 school year, all of our events will be virtual.
