Through participating in diverse public humanities programs and creating accessible community resources, we practice empathy and understanding, and learn more about who we are and where we are going. We believe the humanities help us create connections and foster relationships that strengthen our island home.
Information about your donation
Hawaiʻi Council for the Humanities is an independent non-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) corporation and is supported through private donations and grants. We are generously supported by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Your donation is tax deductible and will go a long way in helping us develop and implement new humanities initiatives and enhance existing ones like our Hawaiʻi History Day and Try Think community conversations.
Our donors are listed in our print and online annual report in thanks for their support. We are also happy to accept donations made in memory or in celebration of others. Please include a note with your donation if you have any of these requests.
If preferred, you can also mail a check donation, payable to Hawaiʻi Council for the Humanities, to:

From November 2022 to October 2023, we’re celebrating our 50th Anniversary of working in the humanities communities of Hawaiʻi. We’re honoring our many connections—past and future. We are asking our supporters to donate this year in honor of a descendant or an ancestor.
Donate in Honor of an Ancestor or a DescendantWe are delighted that you want to make a gift of appreciated stock to the Hawai‘i Council for the Humanities. A gift of stock provides significant benefits, including an immediate charitable deduction for the full market value of the stock and avoidance of capital gains taxes that would normally be due upon sale. Any long-term appreciated securities with unrealized gains (meaning they were purchased over a year ago, and have a current value greater than their original cost) may be donated and a tax deduction taken for the full fair market value of the securities.
