What soap is to the body, laughter is to the soul.
—Yiddish proverb
We’ve all heard the saying, “laughter is the best medicine.” This phrase goes back, way back, heck, even to biblical times! There have been countless studies on the impact laughter has on our physical and mental health, so what’s all the hubbub about laughter?
Is it an individual’s release of endorphins, or simply the physical act of laughing that makes it such a good “medicine”?
Is the impact of the laughter increased when laughing with others?
During the challenging times as we find ourselves in, one that keeps us physically and emotionally distanced from one another, how can we best seek out this “medicine”?
Is it even acceptable to laugh during a pandemic?
Let’s talk (and laugh) about it! Join us for our next event, Try Think: LOL!?!
We are excited (and you should be too) to have Danica Rosengren, Arts Education Specialist at the Hawai’i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, join us to get us in the right mood to have a good laugh together! Come prepared to move a little and smile a lot. The whole family is invited to attend and enjoy the fun.
This event will take place via Zoom on Tuesday, October 6th from 12:00-1:30pm HST and on Friday, October 9th from 4:00-5:30pm HST. The agenda for both days will be the same, so register for the date that fits your schedule best. Registration is limited and handled on a first come, first served basis. Though not a requirement, we are encouraging everyone to join with their cameras on to experience the interactive aspects of this event. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Rob Chang at rchang@hihumanities.org.
