Hawaiʻi History Day Teacher Workshop Women and the American Story

The Hawai’i Council for the Humanities is excited to announce an upcoming virtual teacher workshop in March: Women and the American Story. This engaging and illuminating workshop series, presented by The New York Historical Society, will provide teachers with primary sources and life stories that is critical in learning about how women were significant in shaping US History.

This workshop is organized by Hawaiʻi Council for the Humanities, Chaminade History Center, and New York Historical Society, and cosponsored by University of Hawaiʻi Maui College, University of Hawaiʻi Mānoa–College of Education, Hawaiʻi Women in Filmmaking, King Kamehameha V Judiciary History Center, League of Women Voters of Hawaiʻi County, and Hawaiʻi Association of Independent Schools,

The New York Historical Society will present on two time periods:

  • Early Encounters (1492-1734)
  • Modernizing America (1899-1920)

In addition, NYHS will provide its wealth of historical resources including:

  • Free, open access, and easy to navigate web content.
  • Primary sources on women in American history
  • Life stories of women in history
