Through a Gift
Your gift to the Hawai‘i Council for the Humanities (HCH) offers direct support to our programs, such as Hawai‘i History Day and Motheread/Fatheread®. Contributions also allow our staff the opportunity to research and develop new and timely initiatives, partnerships and collaborations.

The reason your donation is so essential to HCH is that while our programs continue to expand, our funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) does not. Without donations from generous, civic-minded individuals like you, HCH would not be able to sustain our current programming, much less have the opportunity to grow and reach new audiences. Supporting HCH through a gift is a significant investment in our programs and in your community.

Donations can be sent directly to our office (secure online donations can be made by clicking the “Donate” button on the top right corner of this webpage):

Please make your check out to “Hawai‘i Council for the Humanities” or “HCH”.

Through Your Actions
You can also support the Hawai‘i Council for the Humanities by helping us bring our programs to your community. Encourage your local library, historical society, community center, and intermediate and secondary schools to contact us about our FREE programs.

We look forward to meeting potential partners and forming relationships with organizations throughout the state of Hawai‘i to bring our unique and thoughtful programs to new audiences.

There are also several opportunities for volunteering with our organization: as a judge or event assistant/helper for Hawai‘i History Day district and state programs, and in our office where communications and general support are always welcome.

Thank you for supporting lifelong learning in your community by advocating for the humanities and the life of the mind they represent.

Introducing HCH Giving Circles

The Hawai‘i Council for the Humanities is pleased to present three new Giving Circles that will preserve, protect, and expand HCH public humanities programs.  A pledge to join the Maile and/or Kukui Circles for five years allows HCH to receive a matching award of $100 per circle from an anonymous donor.  Your generous support will keep the humanities alive and flourishing in Hawai‘i.

However, your donation makes a difference, no matter the size. Help us connect people with ideas that broaden perspectives, enrich lives and strengthen communities today! Additionally, a pledge to join the Maile and/or Kukui Circle for five years qualifies for a matching award of $100 from an anonymous donor.

The Maile Circle at $500 supports public programs, like Motheread® in the prisons, reading-discussion programs, literary and oral history dramatizations, and a book on the music of Hawai‘i.

The Kukui Circle at $500 supports our programs for K-12 students and teachers, like Hawai‘i History Day and collaborative workshops and institutes for teachers.

The ‘Ulu Circle at $250 gives general support for either type of HCH programs and activities.
